DAPHNIA CATCHING TRIP

In Penang the only live food for our betta sold in Aquarium shops is tubifex worm.   My good friend and mentor Sim and I used to go to Bukit Tengah area in the mainland side of Penang to catch daphnia for our Bettas.  Our schedule is first head to the famous "Curry Noodle" stall near there to have our breakfast. Then to the pond which is 5 minutes away. The pond as can be seen in the photo has  slow moving  water with vegetation like water hyacinth growing on the edges   We use a net  to scoop the sides of the pond.  The daphnia will float up in large quantities only in the early morning when the water is still cool.  On a trip like this we can easily catch 3 cups dry weight of daphnia(moina).
