Catching Wild Betta Imbellis Betta Imbellis, also know as peaceful betta is very much related Betta Splendens. Both are
bubblenesters and are easily crossbred to produce hybrid bettas.
The habitat for this species are ponds and rivers with dense vegetation
and slow moving water.
Their natural predators are snakehead and water fowl.
Presently due to development and widespread us of pesticides by padi farmers, their habitat
are seriously threatened. There are 2 simple methods used to catch Betta Imbellis. One way is using a bamboo made basket scooping the edge of pond or stream with dense vegetation. Use one leg to step on the vegetation will scaring the imbellis and forcing them to swim towards the basket. This method will yield imbellis of all sex and sizes. The other method is by placing pots along the edges of their habitat. The pots are place leaning sideways with the opening facing the edge and not at the open water. Adult male imbellis are attracted to make the pot their home. The longer the pots are placed will ensure the strongest imbellis living inside as weaker ones will be chase out by stronger ones. Harvesting is just a matter of collecting those pots. Below are pictures of places that will likely have Betta Imbellis living there. Betta Imbellis can be easily cross bred with Betta Splendens to will produce healthy offsprings. Below is a hybrid betta bred using a Male Imbellis and female longfin Splenden.
