VISIT TO IPOH BETTAFARM The city of Ipoh is located between Penang and KL. It is famous for its bean sprout and chicken rice. It was said that the water in Ipoh is very clean and healthy resulting in bean sprout that is crunchy and chicken that is smooth and tender. Just come and taste it and judge yourself! Ipoh is also famous for its fighter betta. Ipoh fighter are now famous around the world and are sold to Thailand, Indonesia, Singapore and even USA for fights. They are know for their tough body and sharp teeth with powerful attack. Due to their popularity, fish as young as 4 months old are already bought by customers to keep in their pond or clay pots until they are old enough to fight. The success rate of producing champion fighters in Ipoh is said to be 40% thus people are willing to take the risk of buying the whole spawn even thought the fish are still young and not fully tested. Top breeders in Ipoh are Ah Loy, Cheong Swei Ngau and Cheong Yan. My first visit to a betta farm is in Ipoh. The farm that I visited is located in Jelapang area. There are a few breeders located in that area with their farms next to each other. I was there to buy their famous HakMorKwai(BlackDevil). Below are pictures of the farm I visited.
